Bowen therapy and other fully-clothed techniques
Bowen Therapy is a myofascial release technique for pain relief and restoring balance and alignment in the body, providing lasting relief for many different issues. With therapeutic holds and movements on pressure points, and rolls across connective tissues and muscle fibers, the muscles, fascia and nervous systems are stimulated to release tension and return the body to a balanced posture in a feel-good way.
I can do traditional Bowen-work with two minute breaks if requested, otherwise I tend towards shorter, full-breath breaks to give a more profound and transformative experience in our time together. I can add integrative, feel-good Trager-type movements, Ortho-Bionomy-type trauma work, Tui Na, Thai massage on the table, Shiatsu, assisted stretching and cranio-sacral work.
Most people feel improvement during a session, or a day or two after, and have their issues, whether acute or chronic, improved in 1-3 sessions. In addition, most people see great (and sometimes unexpected) health benefits and continue with monthly or quarterly treatments for preventative measures and self-care. This technique is great for all populations, including infants, pregnant women, and the elderly.

"I am an integrative family practice doctor.. I've had the pleasure of referring several of my patients to Amy over the years.. Their feedback was always positive, and showed clinical improvement in their musculoskeletal ailments. I've also had treatment personally with Amy, and found it be very beneficial.. A welcome asset to the Eugene community of holistic practitioners."

"I have been receiving treatments from Amy for over a year and can't speak highly enough about her work. She is not only well-skilled, she is also very present during the sessions. She is not working ON me, but is working WITH me. She stays aware of what is going on and is not just performing techniques. I feel more relaxed and integrated when the session is over. Many of my chronic symptoms are improving from the work. Amy is kind, caring, professional, and very gifted."

Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy works with the mind-body connection to heal and free the body of pain and trauma. With guided exploration, movement and sometimes bodywork, we curiously and compassionately work with parts and patterns to develop relationships and practices to become more connected with our body and be able to work with pain, trauma and nervous system dysregulation. We'll explore various internal connections in your body and create new neural pathways to provide the mind and body with choices, agency, and healthier responses, postures and practices.
I work with Internal Family Systems therapy (www.ifs-institute.com), an evidence-based psychotherapy modality. It's a technique that doesn't seek to push away or get rid of painful parts of ourselves, but rather to see what it needs to heal and integrate with the whole system. It's an incredibly compassionate, inclusive and effective technique. I completed level 1 training and am working on clinical hours for practitioner certification, and continuing to study IFS somatic therapy, Trager Mentastics®, Hakomi®, and Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing®.
In-person and Zoom sessions available.
"Amy is a true healer. Not only does she posses the undefined characteristics of someone who can inherently understand what goes on in the bodies of others & how to address it but she is also constantly educating herself, formally and in different techniques. I began seeing Amy over 6 years ago. She has become a critical part of me keeping early arthritis in check. I see her at least once a month if not more. Amy is also a lovely, kind, and thoughtful person! Anyone would be lucky to find her and benefit from her practice."
